04 5.4 clacking, knocking when cold
hey guys i got a 04f150 with the 5.4 3v the knock started yesturday morning it wasn't plugged it about -20c it fired right up started clacking for a sec the it went away. Later that night i started it up and the ck eng light came on i scanned it and got a p0345 cmp sensor circuit fault. started it up to go home and it was knocking like crazy ck gauges came on oil gauge was down then it went up but it kept knock and shaking eng came on i got same p0135 and a cylinder #5 misfire and misfire on start up the noise was coming from the valve covers I shut truck off then started it back up and it went away it has 106000kms i run 5w20 synectec in it with a wix filter if that helps.
Im thinking cam phasers has anyone has this problem? thanks

Search the forum for idle knock, you should stick with the Motorcraft filters since they have a check ball or valve that doesn't allow the oil to drain out when the engine is turned off. At your cold temps, the problem is much more severe as it'll take longer for the oil pressure to build up. Another issue is the cam phazers which are located under the valve covers. I had my phazers replaced under warranty, but there's atsb out there for those as well. I think you're on the right track with the phazers, but change your filter as well. That will help the situation.
