351 number ? Numbers dummy?

How do I identify the engine in the 79 F150? Was told it was a 351... Where are the numbers and what do I look for to know if it is a 351 Cleveland or Widsor? or something else?

Fourth digit of the VIN will tell you what engine was original:

G = 302
H = 351
S = 400
J = 460

If the engine is the original, and a 351 then it is a 351M. If it is not original and a 351, well that gets a little scary, but not hard to identify the engine family from all the guides to the engines but can get damn confusing as a newbie.

OK, verified it is a 400...

Next question, isn't the 400 & the 351m the same block? meaning parts from a 351 & a 400 intechange... mainly headers, intake, water pump etc?
