The reason I ask is: I have a 400, and on the driver side of the distributor (on the block) there is a 1" by 3" "ridge"(for lack of a better word).
On this motor there is not one.
Does the 351M have this "ridge"?
My local junk yard couldnt track these numbers and I havent had a chance to take the starter off to get the numbers off the block.
THROW ME A BONE??

The 351M and 400 share the same block, heads and yes intakes. There's just no way to tell for sure even if you do have the block numbers without looking at the crank. If the block is an older (pre-75) casting then the chances of it being a 400 are greater but the crank casting will tell the tale. 5M, 5MA, or 5MAB is a 400 crank, 1K is a 351M.
