Does anyone know how to tell how much material has been shaved off of a set of heads? Where would you measure from and what are the specs on that measurement? Thanks for any info.

There's a casting mark on the chamber side of the head that's .030 indent, by using a dial indicator you can measure how much has been milled off.
...You have my attention as to measuring head volume/how much had been milled off, but I don't quite understand where the reference mark is and how you measure it.
A small point for a regular vehicle but we drive FORDS!
looking at the chamber side of the heads there are reliefs at the corners. I am guessing these are the marks that you are talking abotu but they measure about .075 deep. Is there another mark that am supposed to be looking for? Thanks for the information.
It is a half moon indent, about in the middle, on the outside edge of the head on the combustion chamber side. However, it is a lot deeper than .030. I had one set of cleveland heads milled .050 and there is still about .020 left there.
