Went buy my neighbours place this morning and got a live scan performed. I have a 2001 Ford Excursion with a v10, and i believe i have the low gears in the back (about 2500 rpm @ 100km/h) Bought the truck from Cali and brought it back to Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada.
I had very poor gas mileage (6.4 mpg) and cleaned the maf, and it jumped up to 7.0 for the next tank. Is this normal for cold weather? I'm starting to think I'm going to break the bank lol. Love the truck though.
Here's some readings I got if anyone can tell me if they're weird, right, wrong, etc...
ECT = 80 degrees
EVAP = 0
IAC = 35
MAF = 9.19
Fuel Pump = 4.6 ms
IAT = -33 C (it was cold this morning)
SP ADV = 14 degrees
TPREL = .99
My neighbour said the o2s were switching normally, left and right were pretty consistent between -2 and 800 (not sure what they're measured in) the rear was switching between 0 and 200.
Thanks for any info- really not sure what I'm looking at
By checking your door VIN sticker and getting the axle code will tell you what gears you are running. That is the first place to start...and here is the list...
Now...7mpg is really bad. If you have an all OEM setup. However...if you have large tires with 3.73s, then that will certainly hurt the mpg's. Also...make sure your tires are at the right psi.
IMO...new fuel filter, new air filter, clean (again) the MAF sensor, and reset the PCM. Resetting the PCM by simply disconnecting the negative battery cable for 15-30 minutes and with your headlights switched on will drain any residual left in the system.
Since purchasing the EX...have you done a complete fluid flush of all components? Tranny, coolant, brakes, power steering, axles, etc. This helps establish a "new" point of maintenance on your EX. From that point forward...you can track the performance.
Axle is a C3. Tires I have are 315/75/r16. Yes I agree 7.0 is really bad!
I've replaced all fluids, changed thermostat, replaced air filter with kn, and will try the cleaning again. I also replaced the spark plugs. The one thing I didn't do when I removed power last time was turn the lights on, but I did wait about 20 mins.

Thankyou so much for the reply!!!!
The tire size could be the issue. Going from an OEM 32" (LT265) to a 35" (LT315) does have an effect. But...where I am going with this is in regards to the PCM having the correct tire size. IMO...you need to visit your friendly dealer and ask them to check the PCM for the proper sized tire. If the PCM still thinks it has the original LT265 (for example), then the mileage will be off...along with the tranny shift points.
I bought a Hypertech tuner to fix the speedo issue, but took it back because it didn't make enuf difference for the $400.00 it cost. Might try another, but I don't really know from searching which tuner you guys actually agree on! BTW if I went to a 36" tire would my gearing still be OK? If its borderline I'll still do it- but I don't want to break things...
