I need to get my truck smogged (very stupid) and I put a 460 in my 78 F150 (used to have 351M) and a mechanic im taking it to smog it said to see if the F150's came optional with the 460 (dont know why, but he said if it didnt I need to get new "modified" registration of something). So my question is what diagram of vacuum and emission lines do I need to follow, and Did these F150's come optional with 7.5L engine.
Thanks....
no 460s in 4x4s at all until 83 so no it wasn't an option on your truck (I don't believe they were ever offered in F150s even in 2wd ever but not 100% sure on that one) I think you could get a 460 in a 2wd F350 in 78 or 79 use the vac diagram for that application, or at least that is what I would do.
They were available in at least the 79 F-100 2wd. That's where I pulled my D9 block from, and as far as I could tell, the thing is/was bone stock when i pulled it.

The 460 WAS an option in 1978+ in the E250/E350 vans and F150 thru F350 trucks.
I have a 1978 Ford factory shop manual in my lap this very moment that says so.
