77 F150

Hello everyone this is my first post. Just need a few opinions. I'm getting ready to start another project 77 F150 right now its a 460 4sp, 4x4, shortbed, baddly rusted in the bed. Frame seems pretty solid I'll know more when I get it apart but, here is my questions I plan on driving this truck daily or at least in the winter months anyway when finished. I was thinking of changing the 460 to a 351w just for mpg or do you think it would even benefit me. I like the way the truck looks so I plan on keeping the lift kit and 35 12.50's on it. I'm also thinking of going with a newer stepside since there composite then I dont have to worry about the bed rusting anymore. I'm also thinking of completely taking apart the frame and using POR15 on the frame and all hard parts. Has anyone already done this and was it worth it? It sounds like really good stuff but, I've never seen any first hand and dont know of anyone who has used it. I'm also going to rewire the complete truck none of the interior lights work so have already purchased complete wiring off ebay EZ wire I ordered to look at it because of the price and actually looks like a really good product for 175 dollars. Thanks ahead of time.

460 is a big block and a 351w is a small block, in order to switch from 460 to 351w you would have to switch out the bellhousing and get new motor mount towers to support the smaller block. In my opinion if you keep your foot out of the gas the 460 will give you just a much mpg anyway, lol j.m.o.

POR15 is a very good rust preventative i've used it myself on my f100 and it hasn't failed thru all the muddin i do, it actually makes it easier to get the mud off because it's non-porous. i like it myself

Yea I know about the differenced is bbf and sbf just didn't realize the gas mileage would be about the same lol was a thought but, I guess when your trying to to move a mountain its going to take alot of gas no matter what huh lol....

POR15 I'm hoping is as good as advertised. Did you completely strip your frame or just ruff it up? I know it says you dont have to but thought about having it sandblasted then coating it but, if I really dont need to then dont really need to was the time.

In order to get the best possible results it would probably have to be sand blasted to remove every thing. i actually pressure washed mine and hand dried it with towels, then scuffed it with heavy duty sand paper down to the metal and then applied it.
