A clunk question

A clunk question

My 01 has started to make a clunk as it goes from drive to reverse, or back the other way. The sound is coming from the rear. I guess too much towing heavy. Is it hard to fix, and how long can I wait to fix it. I was going to drive to Florida and back the end of the month. Thanks for any help.

i would check your u joints, and give the rear driveshaft splines a greasing where it connects to the yolk by the carrier bearing

Sounds like u-joints in the drive shaft. If that's what it is, it's a cheap easy fix.
