I am looking to order a new F350 and the dealer has placed a PDAF or DAF assessment fee (difficult to make out on fax) of $638.00. I can't remember what this is, but I thought at one time this was just a way to boost dealer profit.
DON'T PAY IT! Dealers get reimbursed from the factory for their advertising on top of the other holdbacks that you never see. Thats why a dealer can make a profit when selling a vehicle for invoice price. The DAF is definetly an add on.
Good information. I thought this was the case. I spoke with the salesman indicating to him that I had not paid this "assessment" the last time I ordered a a truck from this dealer 4 years ago and that I have 2 other dealer quotes for the same truck which do not contain the fee. They have given me a price of $600 over invoice (which will still be negotiated) and now this FDEF fee of $638.00. I told the salesman that I will pay a little over invoice, but not 1238.00 over. He said he was going to look into it". What is funny is that he said "well it is a fee that is on every vehicle on our lot and I think it is part of the invoice price". If there not willing to remove it I told him that I will simple have to go one of the other dealers.
take it off. i just bought a new 4x4 cc f250 kr for 300 over invoice minus 2500 incentive - that was on there at the time of purchase and i said no - they removed it.
