I would suggest buying the minimum of a Haynes or Chilton manual, those are good enough for most basic repairs. I don't rely on the computer anymore for my tech info, I had my PC crash one time in the middle of a job. I shoulda printed it out, but did not want to waste the paper, or pay for ink. With a book, all you have to do is worry about loosing it, or damaging it. I bought a CD manual once (it was a Bently manual for my MKIII VW) and I promplty lost the CD key, which surprisingly enough, was the same cost as the CD to begin with. Books are bulky, Books on CD take up nothing. With either, you are worlds better than guessing, or having nothing.

I just scan the pages that I need from the manual and then print them out. That way my manual stays clean. If friend's need information, they also get printed pages. Manuals like tools, tend to walk away never to return.
