I dunno, I'd enter my truck into something like that.
If I did break something, I'd probably put on a good show anyways, have it towed home and then beg for its forgiveness as I took vacation time from work to fix it. The only possible way this guy could have embarrased himself (and his truck) more would be to ease over the ramps and cry about the damage, he go cheers for himself and for the truck.
I'll admit I cringed, if my truck looked that nice I would rarely bring it out of the garage.
the last demo derby I was at they were doing stuff like this,some guys were being wimpy in their trucks. The crowed booed when drove slowly over the ramps, so they went again with much more aggression
One truck hit the ground and lost a few pieces, had to be towed out.. the guy put on a good show but you could tell by the look on his face that he was genuinely sorry for breaking his truck.

I just don't get why someone would want to enter something like that - knowing full well the only way to make the crowd happy is to thrash your ride. Then again, if'n it belongs to someone else, then by all means have at it! (Dear stepdad, I stole your 77 Ford and drove it to school my senior year - the look on my friends face as I parked that big ugly beater truck 2 inches away from her pristine 1970 El Camino was worth it!)

what about the 79 about 9 mins in...its a tough thing for purists to watch, but i guess he paid for it so he can do what he pleases...
my favorite was the black bronco....he had all 4 wheels a couple feet off of the ground
