hello everyone, I am new to posting on this site so bear with me.
I currently own a 1977 RANCHERO GT brougham with a 400 M block motor that is tore apart at my high school auto shop.
i read an article from an old hot rod magazine that say i can get something like 380 H.P. out of my engine.
will this engine pass smog if I put new catalytic converters and new smog equipment and do some detuning?
and i dont know much about performance engines how will 380 H.P. drive on the street?
is this enough power for cruising and eating up a few rice burners?
and i have been looking to boost compression and i saw those badger flat tops but theyre cast, will they hold up to that much power and will i get detonation?
>what kind of a quarter mile time will i get in my 4200 pound
>beast?
Well according to the calculator on this site [link:users.erols.com/srweiss/#jcalc|Automotive Calculations] you should be able to turn 12.97 in the quarter. I'm not vouching for the accuracy of these calculations since it doesn't ask for gear ratio or anything else, just reporting the numbers.
WHAT WILL I HATE TO DO TO GET THIS THING TO PASS CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS?? I HAVE THE ORIGINAL INTAKE AND CARB IF I NEED TO SWAP,I AM BUYING NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTERS
