Could someone tell me how to replace the heater core in a '79 f-250, how much of the dash/underneath of it do i gotta tear out to get to it? If its a real long process, i dont really wanna start it now with how cold it is outside. Thanks.
Thats a tech article on how to do it if it's a factory AC truck. It's not really that bad the hardest part I had was finding all the screws and nuts to undo to be able to pull the part from under the dash loose IIRC there like 7 (some of them you access from inside the truck and some from under the hood). If you look under the dash on the passenger side you'll see the black plastic piece that has to come off to get the evaporator out of the way to get to the heater core behind it. Good luck!!
if its at all like my 79 f100, its actually quite easy. Basically the entire heater assembly comes out and the heater core is inside it. Mine had three bolts through the firewall and the heater hoses, and a bunch of small screws. Found it easiest to take out the glove box to get better access. Also loosened one side of the dash to make it easier to pull the entire thing out from under the dash.
