I know that the chainging of the timing chain on many cars is recommended to keep them from breaking and causing engine damage. Does this recommendation also apply to my F350 7.5 liter gasoline engine? It has about 90,000 miles now.
Most likely those recommendations refer to the rubber timing belts that, if they break,
can cause internal damage to interference engines. Yours is a steel chain that may stretch, but they seldom break. Check with a mechanic on how to test for chain stretch.
My '86 460 has 127k miles of hard plowing/working and still no valve timing problems.
