Under the truck is a miserable job for swapping bearings. Please wear good eye protection. Maybe loosening the torque converter nuts will give the crank a little more free play. Anyone?
What Brian said is correct. It's a dirty, messy, uncomfortable job. Wear safety goggles and clothes you don't care about because you're gonna be covered in drops of oil...soaks right through the coveralls while you're laying there.
I only did the mains when I did it so I can't speak for the rods but the biggest PITA was the 2 piece rear main seal. Had to use a brass drift to punch it out and then sliding the new one in even with the main caps off was no fun. Didn't think about loosening the TC bolts. End result however was no leaks and much better oil pressure.
Rods are easier to changed than the mains since you can push the piston up, just be careful when pulling it back down that you don't scrape the crank journal. I found if possible let the engine set a few days before hand and drain all the oil out. Still get drops though. Depending on your rear main you might be able to take a dry wall screw and screw it into the seal, then pull it down out.
