I finally got around to reading the whole discussion on that forum...you guys are nuts! Just kidding Brian!

I'm not sure what kind of help you're looking for. I'm not gonna be any help in the supercharger debate 'cause I've never owned a blown motor. As far as the stroked Cleveland vs. M block debate goes, I'd say that the advantages of using an M block are:

1. They're cheaper and easier to find than Cleveland blocks because they were made for so much longer and nobody wants them.

2. They can be stroked more than a Cleveland because of the taller deck height.

3. Anything you do to a Cleveland can be done to a 400 with virtually the same parts.

4. SC engines are all about airflow. Heads are the key to airflow. Any modifications done to a Cleveland head to improve the performance will work even better when you bolt that same head on a 400.

5. There is No Replacement for Displacement.

6. See #5 again.

No offense taken. You already knew I was nuts but lucky for me the guys in the white coats haven't figured out where I live yet. I prefer eccentric but I'm not rich enough.

I haven't rebutted in any detail as a courtesy to the readers. I'd rather start a seperate topic called "Anything goes, read at your own risk"

Your points about the 400 are great. Ignorance about their potential is common. How many people know you can get 800HP out of one of these.
Jack Roush knew enough 20 years ago to build a custom 400 stroker for his Cobra. Guess who ended up with his other 4.5" billet crank?

Ignorance can be overcome. Unless you're stupid of coarse, well then you're stuck.

Aside from the 400 debate, does the part time supercharger sound like a pipe dream? I don't buy into the "If it could have been done, it would have been done by now" theory. It's been done on some Mercedes, Toyota MR2s and a prototype SVT Muatang Super Stallion with varying degrees of success. I'm getting some good feedback recently from a forum for blow through carb applications.

There aren't that many Mad Max fans who are hard core gear heads, so they go along with what they hear. Hopefully non of them will try the "If you want it to stick up more fab new motor mounts and raise it up that way" suggestion.

What do you think the car would handle like if 1000 lbs. worth of transmission, engine and supercharger were raised 8"?
