What is the weak link in the valvetrain? The shafts, stands, arms or all of it, lol
just lookin for some opinions on whuch way to go when upgrading on my 390. The cam im gonna be running uses springs with 415lbs open pressure.
toss up really would be my guess $130.00 for end stands for the stock shafts or just HD shafts you pick ? But that is just a wild guess/bla bla... not sure what stock open pressure is and to lazy to check LOL..
I run stock stuff on two of my hot rods. Worse one is .591 lift. No end stands, nothing special and it's going on 20 yrs without even having to adjust them. Can't recall what open pressure is, but probably high 300's#.(it's been 20 yrs since I knew)
If you plan on roller cam and turning it pretty high, then I'd look at getting upgrades, as you don't want to have issues.
Race motor has Dove HD(wide) complete set up on it, running .64 lift(solid lifter). Never have to touch it all year. Rock solid.

I think I'd be looking into an upgrade, with the new more aggresive cam profiles of today...dont really want to go over about .550" lift with stock parts..I dont recall off hane what stock pressures are on the seat and the nose.. Buy some just buy new stock shafts and rockers, and use there old center stands, and buy end stands, as long as there can isnt to crazy for street use.. The end of the rocker shaft is the weakest point...So end stands are good insurance.. JMO
