O2 sensor, Where is it?

I have a 04 F250 5.4. I have been told there are 4 O2 sensors. 2 upstream and 2 down stream. I need to replace Bank1 #2 sensor which is downstream. I only found 1 after the CAT but before the muffler. Where is the other one they say should be here? Which would be banl1 #2 when the CAT is on the past sside and there is only 1 CAT? Thanks

My 04' 6.8l only has 2 O2 sensors. They are located on the section of Y-pipe right behind the exhaust manifolds. (One on each side) I don't not have egr though.

Does your truck have EGR or is it setup for California Emmisions?

Mine has truck has no O2 senors after the cat. Mines OBD 1 compliant but uses OBD 2 codes. The HD/SD trucks and larger have to meet different emmsion requirements than F-150 and smaller.

I have single exhaust. So then I should only have 1 sensor after the CAT? I just want to make sure the right sensor was changed. I had a fellow tell me that if 1 is giving me trouble I should change them all. He also said that they should be change every few years and my fuel milage will suffer as a sensor gets older even if it still is good. Any truth to this?

Yes there is. The O2 went out on my wife little suv and it caused her to get 12mpg vs the regular 22+

The O2 sensor that is after the Cat is only there to determine if the cat is still working properly. It is the upstream O2 sensors that are used to determine fuel injection pulse width for the amount of air through the throttle body.
