i know the answer is here somewhere but i cant find it, i have 1998 fi150 4.6 auto 202000 miles wanna keep this truck around, havent had any problems yet but she is running a little sluggish, read and heard all about the dreaded spark plug issues, i was just eandering if i swapped engines if a 5.4 would drop right in
well the nav motors cost a bit more, they have a much more complex head on them, and i cant vouch for that swap... should,"and i mean only should" be the same swap since its only a head diff with the motors but the computers are probably incompatible.... im still waiting to get my comp tuned so my motor runs good, still runnig the 4.6l tune on my 5.4l and it gets me around with out eating my Gas milage ... still 1-2 lower than usuall but like i said it is untuned for the current engine..
if you are wanting more power for cheap and easy drop a 5.4l in out of another f-150 and get it tuned by a comperable shop...
the nav swap will require more time and money, not necesarely being harder, just not a known territory for the community here..
