ctrl+alt+muffler delete

Its been a week since I did the muffler delete and much to my joy someone had already done the resonator delete. I cut out the muffler using pieces of a Chevy PU driveshaft as the pipe (shoulda kept the balance weights on it to prove that). I LOVE the sound now just a little louder no drone but then I like loud exhaust and the whistle is just awesome, I drive by anything I can with the passenger windows down just to hear it whine. I also think I picked up a few MPG which I'll let you guys know after a few tanks of diesel but I think I am in the 16-18 range in town so wish me luck. Next up is the fuel pressure shim mod.

6.0 or 7.3? I have one of both, and have the same problem, windows down and radio off!!

I'm sorry for being ignorant, but are you just running a straight pipe? I don't believe I've ever heard a diesel like that...you don't happen to have a video do you? I'm going to youtube right now, lol.

does it make a big difference? I ran my bronco for a while without any kind of exhaust (well, just a straight pipe and a "faux" cat...beat the guts out of it). I didn't really notice much, maybe a little more in the top end, but that's about it.

Does it really help in the Diesels?

With diesels, it eliminated backpressure from behind the turbo. This allows the turbo to spool up a little faster, plus lowers EGT a little.

The turbo itself does a good job of calming the exhaust pulses, so a turbo diesel with a straight pipe isn't as loud as you would think.

Thanks for the reply redford, I've read a couple posts about it, just didn't know how much you'd actually gain, or what all it'd help.
