351m Oilpan configuration

The 351m that is currently in my truck has an oil pan with the oil pick up in the rear of the motor. I am currently rebuilding a 400M to take its place. The 400m has the oil pick up in the front of the motor. So both pans are oppisite each other. Im not sure if the 400m with pickup in the front will fit in the truck and clear the cross member.
My question is, can I build the 400m with a rear oil pickup?
It sound like it would work fine with the right pickup and oilpan. Checking to see if someone knows somthing I dont. Is there a problem that I might not be aware of? I searched through old posts and didnt see anything.
Thanks, jjddoogg

No problem. Just make sure you put the correct pickup in with the pan.

The only differants between front and rear sump pan and pick up is theres a little stud on one of the main cap bolts that the rear sump attaches too.
And you can't put a front sump pan in a 4X4 truck.

JJDDOOGG, The pieces from your 351M will go right on the 400.

Use the 351M rear sump pan, 351M dip stick and tube, main bearing bolt/stud combo that supports the oil pump pick up tube, oil pump and long picup tube & sump.

You can use a small metal cap plug to plug the dipstick tube hole on the front of the block on the 400.

Of course replace the oil pump.
