To quote: A karmann vortex generator is a Japanese OEM airflow measuring device that uses sound and pressure wavea to determine airflow.

Isn't a "sound" and a "pressure wave" basically the same thing in air?

i think the 5.4 is a good engine, the 4.6 not bad ,i drove a 4.2 and thought is was a dog pulling a 3k pound trailer.durability wise i hear there pretty good i dont hearmuch about the 5.4 but i hear a lot about the 4.6.as for being more durable than the old ones,i think its to early to tell.i drive a 300 I6 and i dont think any of those engine will top that in durability, but as for the other ones they semm pretty good so far.and i do think everyone needs to give credit to the older engines.if u look back 100 years from and talk about the best enginesever made youll pry hear about the 300,302 and 351 ,350 chevy pry had the 351 beat becuase it was the only good sb chevy made.but because at there time they were the best engines offered where as now everone talks about how the 5.4 cant touch the tundra.

just my .02

i know what you mean, 100 years from now people will be talking about the 350 chevy and stuff as great engines. you gotta respect the old engines. I have respect for old american iron when i see an old american car, any make thats over 30 years old and still has the original engine that runs till this very day. I respect that. oh yeah the new ford mod motors 4.2, 4.6L. 5.4L are okay. i drove an 03 f150 with a 4.2 v6 and its a good solid drivetrain. that truck is COMMMMFFFYY and drives like a big car. the only thing i dont like is the view of the windshield, it seems a little restricted compared to that of my 91 style. the 03 is my neighbors truck and they drive it HARD and the truck takes their abuse. its also their only vehicle. its never left them stranded except for the anti theft device messed up once. FORD BUILT TOUGH.

Who or where would I go to get a tuner for my brothers truck he has an F-150 with the 5.4L that just seems to be a dog from what I am reading a tuner is a must but I have to say I am a "tuner dummy" I can build, rebuild, manufacture your entire truck, car, van, or anything else that rolls but I have never messed with the tuners and that jazz any help in that department I would be grateful for

not sure where you read "a tuner is a must" for the 5.4L. but, many of us do have tuners and like them.

they are all plug and play. i think the Hypertech Power Programmer II is easy as hell...then again, it's the only one i've used.

My Diablosport Predator is nice too. Go to www.motorhaven.com and check out what they have to offer.

I'm using the Diablo for my V10 and am very pleased with it. They have preset tunes that allow for the use of different octane fuel. Just be aware that if you want a noticable performance gain you'll probably have to use either 91 or 93 octane. That's what worked for me.

Same here....the Hypertech has two choices for most trucks, 87 or 93. I ran 93 for a while and then switched back for a couple weeks....my butt dyno told me to switch back to 93.

as much as i like my Hypertech's ease of use, it doesn't have th cool features like others, such as updating software and such.

The 4.2 V6 is NOT a modular motor. Why the 4.2 is even in this discussion is beyond me...
