does anyone have an excursion as a second car or a primary dailey driver? my wife has a nissan pathfinder and i have a police vehicle for work. the ex sits most of the time, used only slightly on weekends. i guess i can't complain with the price of gas.

My 2002 XLT is a secondary vehicle. It took the place of an older Bronco. I use it to beat around town on the weekends. Occasional towing. The vinyl floors are great in the inclement weather not to mention I can throw my golf clubs and shoes in there when they are muddy/dirty and the mess cleans up easily.

Also after figuring the cost of driving my wife's pt crapper and my Excursion, fuel cost on the long run about the same.

This time of year...let's say December through February,...my Ex is my daily as well. Fixing to turn 30,000 now. I also use it for trailer duty some summer weekends. The rest of the year, my 03 Cobra is my daily car.

I will confess that at this time of year....if my wife and I have a trip of 50 miles or more...we her Grand Prix. 25MPG ain;t hard to take.

The Excursion is my daily driver in the months with salt on the road (December - March). April-November I drive the Jag pretty much every day, and take the Excursion on trips when I need to do towing, hauling, etc. I won't expose the Jag to salt, and plus in the winter I frequently need 4x4 to get up my driveway with snow... like right now!

I only drive mine for towing my camper and trips with the family. My wife has a nissan I drive from time to time and I have a take home car for work. I also have an older F-350 I use to plow with and haul firewood.

My Excursion is basically used to tow the travel trailer. We try to drive it once a week otherwise to keep it in shape (often this is to church). I think we put a whopping 3500 miles on it in the last year. I have a company truck, and my wife has a mini-van (see signature).

My Excursion is what my insurance company rates as a "pleasure use only" vehicle. I do not have to drive it anywhere if I don't want to. I drive a company car all week. And I have other vehicles to drive as well. Since I recently bought an AWD Explorer I don't really have to drive the Excursion in salt and snow any longer if I don't want to. In other words, my Excursion might see 4,000 to 5,000 miles a year if lucky.

Even after purchasing a 30' to 34' travel trailer soon, it won't get much over the 4,000 to 5,000 miles a year most likely.

This Brings Me To My Next Question. Will Low Mileage Per Year Cause Any Damage To The Vehicle? I Try To Drive It Once Or Twice Per Week, Local Travel. I Understand With Diesel They Need To Be Driven Hard, Not Sure About Gas.

I don't think it will do any damage. I have an 8 year old Crown Victoria CVPI (2001) sitting in one of my garages which only has 18,000 miles on it. I only drive it about once a month now, just enough to keep the fluids circulating in the engine and transmission. It's really a chore and a PITA to even drive it once a month now. It doesn't seem to have suffered any damage from not being driven more frequently.

Maverick? Ford Maverick?

Didn't they stop making the Maverick something like 300 years ago?
