i was jus thinking of the fact that out HPOP limits power on our trucks....well the heui system in general..... i was wondering what if you no longer used the HPOP setup and had a completely seperate oil resivour not tied to the low pressure system at all.jus a seperate...can, for lack of a better word.and use a cp3 fuel injector pump like the dodges and chevys use for their fuel pump....but use it for the high pressure oil instead of fuel?would you be able to put in more power for the fact of more oil pressure?it would be cheaper than a duel HPOP too. just a thought.what do yall pro's think?
Hmmmm.
How hard would it be to bolt an IDI injector pump where the HPOP goes and run some lines down through the valve covers via grommets to some injectors? It would require some custom machining of the injector cups.
well i thought of that too in fact in the new deisel power they have a power stroke they did that to. but i was thinking along the lines of keeping the heui system to avoid the machineing
No, the CP3 is designed to operate on fuel, and not oil. Oil is much thicker and slower to flow. The idea of a CP3 is great, in the stock location, make injector cup sleeves to run duramax or CR 5.9 injectors. No more pulsewidth worries and you can make as much power as you want. The idea of using a CP3 to pressurize oil would not fly, as the pressure it runs is upwards of 20,000psi (injection pressure), and if the heads were even able to withstand that much oil pressure in the rail, it would blow the injectors apart due to the fuel being under (theroretically) 140,000 psi.
