transmission ?
i have a 78 f100 with a 351w, and a c4 trans., the trans. has been slipping so either i am going to have to get it rebuilt or get a new one.
what would be the best trans. i could put in it? of course it can't be with OD because of the holly 4 barrel. or should i just go ahead and get mine rebuilt?

It depends on what you use your truck for. If you just drive it normally, don't haul, etc, rebuild your C4. You can use the AOD, which is notoriously weak,and prone to a short death with your 4 barrel carb. You need to either get the AOD kit, and a holley that will use it, or use a factory mustang 4V carb that had the AOD, with the appropriate bracectry/linkage. More research is needed on your behalf before you do the AOD swap. When properly built (read big bux) an AOD will survive.A C6 is your third and last option for an easy trans swap. When properly maintained, the C6 is damn near bulletproof. It does rob more horsepower to make the truck move. That is true of any heavy duty transmission in relation to its lighter duty counterparts.

When you do it, buy a can of stuff from Napa that will hook to your cooler lines, and flush out all of the junk left behind. I would also install a fluid cooler in front of the radiator that takes the fluid after it passes the radiator. It is argued that a filter is a good idea if maintained, but typically it is ignored and becomes worthless when it bypasses because it became clogged....
