98' F150 TRNSMISSION PROBLEM
WHEN I AM JUST COASTING APP. 70KM/H THE RPMS DROP TO 1200RPM, WHEN I NEED TO ACCELERATE A LITTLE, DEPRESSING THE PEDAL RESULTS IN THE RPMS STAYING THE SAME, ENGINE CHOCKING AND THEN THE BIG BANGS FROM THE TRANY, I ALSO HAD A FRIEND MECH TEST DRIVE IT AND HE SAID THAT THE TRANY IS SLIPPING BUT NOT ALWAYS. I DID ALL THE FLUID CHANGES ETC. NO LUCK AT ALL. THE TRUCK OFTEN WILL MAKE A LOT OF NOISE BUT PRODUCE VERY LITTLE OF HEALTHY ACCELERATION AND NOW MY FUEL ECONOMY GOT ALMOST CUT BY HALF.
SO IT LOOKS LIKE I WILL HAVE TO TAKE A TRIP TO THE DEALER. DID ANY ONE EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM ?? WHAT COULD BE THE SOLUTION?? I HAVE HEARD THAT THERE COULD BE SOME TENSION BELTS RELATIVELY EASY TO ADJUST WHICH AFFECT THE OPERATION OF THE TORQUE CONV?
What was very confusing it was that the engine did not ruttle, bang or did all those obvious things when you have c-miss, except the fwd-aft jerking at low rpms while at higher speeds.
