I was thinkin about puttin an IFS system in my 70 F-100. How hard would this be? Would I need to take anything apart to do the install other than stuff like the front clip?
Also, I eventually plan to lift the truck, is this possible with an IFS?
If your truck is 2wd you already have IFS. If its 4x4 WHY. Everyone I know swaps out the ifs on newer trucks to a solid axle.

if your talking about using a ford ttb 4x4 setup i wouldnt waste the time. It gives a nice ride on the road but if you plan on lifting it you mine as well go with a solid axle. You can get maybe 2-3" out of a ttb without serious camber problems but then you have to start getting fabricated axle pivot mounts and longer arms with build it caster.
you do technically have IFS but there are many different IFS systems out there. Can you elaborate one what your looking to do or what you want out of the swap?
I was really jus lookn to get somethin that'll get rid of those damn i-beams, is there a way to swap it out for a solid axle(or whatever it'd be called...jus a solid beam goin across basically), or what other options do I ave for what I want to do
anything is possible but im failing to see what you want. Do you just not like the look of the I beam setup on there now? Im sure there is an upper/lower A arm setup out there that can be converted over but nothing off hand ive seen thats a bolt in job.
IFS severly limit the lift capabilities. i would think you would be better off with the long swing of the stock setup then converting to something else. are you going to covert it to 4x4 at the same time? how much of a lift are you looking at?

I think what you are looking for is what I used under my 79 F100, I agree with you on those evil twins under the front what a P.O.S. suspension in my opinion. If you look at my gallery you can see the Fatman Fabrication IFS under mine, it is still in the construction phase, the addition of the Lincoln Mark 8 4.6 liter engine has added to the build time.
The Fatman IFS was pretty much straight forward and the engineering was already worked out, it was a little time consuming and is a weld in kit. If you can attend the 2008 F100 Supernationals in Knoxville, TN this May FATMANS will have several kits on display for you to check out. Or go to www.fatmanfab.com
You can also check out MARZ68, he was custom building and bolt in IFS and has a thread already started showing the progress, the link to the thread is listed below.
