Help W Powerstroke
Hey guys, I need some advice. My friend has an 01 7.3L powerstroke. Last week it was cutting out and cutting off - typical symtoms of the CPS. So we replaced it and it worked fine for about a week. Then this week it is acting up agian. It is losing power, and cutting off - exept this time it blows white smoke (huge cloud) when cranking after sitting for over 8 hrs? It also still has periods when it runs like a sewing machine? Any ideas or thoughts? Thanks.

You still can't rule out a bad CPS, as sometimes these things last forever, some a week, and a small percentage are bad from the get-go. It's how electronic things are. Instead of shooting in the dark on this one, if you know a mechanic buddy that has a code scanner, a code or two would be very helpful to get the problem fixed instead of just making random suggestions based on a feeling or notion
