I was gung ho until I found out the engine warranty is actually 5 years form the start date (July 2008 warranty out). Now I am not so sure. I've been told I don't have anything to worry about because the build date is May 2003 and that is not an "early" 6.0 liter. I do not think I know the differences well enough to be safe with the new 6.0 liter. (It really is a different engine in a few ways, I think). I was hoping to buy a little extra protection for a bunch of years by getting such a low milage one for a great price, but with no warranty I am getting afraid. I thought I would ask the experts, you guys live with this engine every day and I would be interested in any and all feed back you may have. I test drive it tommorrow morning. Thanks in advance.
Why is it such low miles?? I have a early 03, and I love her!! She has 138,000 miles and i expect to get atleast 400+ out of her. I would not worry about the warrenty, you have a few months to find any problems, and you can extend it to 7years 200K through ford.
like you said, the oasis is clean, so shouldn't cause you any problems. BUT, it is such a low mileage vehicle, it may have not had the chance to cause problems. I have a 2006 F250 PSD. Have had no problems, up until now (head gaskets) with 47,500 miles....so if you are nervous about future problems, I would see about getting the extended warranty. Personally, that truck is so cheap, I wouldn't care.
Thanks y'all for putting in your 2 cents. I really appreciated it. I had to make a quick decision as to not hold the guy up. Unfortunately there were other things that played out as well. I did not get the truck but I'm still looking. He actually thought I was trying to get him to go lower. He came back when I said I had to pass and said he could go to 18,000 but that was his payoff. I felt bad for him, I've been there.....just trying to get out from payments, not even looking to make a buck. Oh well. Thanks again.
