78 t case shift pattern

78 t case shift pattern
I finally got over mono enough to get off the couch, and I went and looked at a 78 4x4 with a c6 and 400. I noticed the t-case shifter pattern said 4lo, N, 4hi, 2hi, from front to back, this is not the pattern of the np205 as far as I know, I also know that those trucks only came with np205, what do you think? Just wrong shift ****? Am I on crack and read it wrong?...possible...
Guy said it had some sort of shifting problems according to the guy he bought it from it was the modulator, said it didn't slip and first and reverse worked fine but it didn't like shifting into second or somethinglike that, sound like a modulator or not? Its a pretty good deal, It hasn't run for a couple years he said I could try to start it if I want. I told him to call me when he finds the title and I'll mess with it some more, its buried in snow right now. comes with a whole parts truck and is exactly what I have been looking for so I'm considering it.

THey came with the 205, and a 203. The shift pattern sounds right to me. Try making sure the modulator is receiving direct manifold vacuum. If its not shifting, that is probably the problem. You can force it to shift into second by downshifting it into 2. If second works that way, I would suspect your modulator has issues. Take the hose off of it, if fluid dumps out, replace it for sure.

if you are looking at the shifter from the drivers seat it should read

this is the 205 pattern the modulator valve is what shifts the tranny out of first up through the gears. reverse will still work too. sounds like the truck is what the guy says it is.

Ya it should be everything he says it is, my neighbor, my neighbors father-in-law has it, he really doesn't care if I buy it or not, he just said he'd sell it to me if I wanted it. He "thinks" he has the title, I didn't have coveralls on and wasn't about to get really wet and cold to inspect a truck that is useless because its titleless, if he fines it I'll go get it running and go over it with a fine tooth comb maybe I read the **** wrong, maybe its the wrong ****. Just thought I'd get your oppinion. I'll keep you posted, Thanks

ya I know, and with a crazy pattern, my grandpas 76 has the 203, I don't like it much, mostly cause I'm 18 and it sucks to have all that horse power and have it stuck in 4 wheel all the time haha

but what is cool is that if the part time conversion has been done it is only in 4 wheel when in the loc positions and has a 2 lo that the 205 doesnt have

Haha, that would be cool, lower lowrange is cool to, thanks for your help. If he finds the title I'll probably drag it home this weekend. I'll learn to post pics... maybe. I'm going to bed to try to keep the mono away...
