My 51 f1 has been sitting for over six years and I have been thinking about what I want to do with it. I found two f1's mostly complete with the usual rust and or dents from farming activities. one is a 52 I think the other is a 51 (need to go look at them again and get vin #s) I'm Hoping the price is right!
I think both have the Flathead v8 and so I am thinking I would rebuild one of them for my truck and sell the Ch(>y 327 which is currently in my truck. and try to keep my f1 close to original as I can. of course I wouldn't mind having front disc brakes among a few other not do noticable things.
2 questions
1. Is there any major differences between the 52 (EAB) and 51 flathead other than hardened valve seats? and which one would be better choice to rebuild? (depends on which block is cracked or not?? lol )
2. I would like to use the stock wheels, is there a front disc conversion available which can fit the stock wheel bolt pattern?
cant tell ya anything 'bout the flatty's as even though i drive one every day , im still a wee bit of a newbie with 'em . the brakes however yes . speedway and others sell a disc kit for 5 lug by 5 1/2 bolt pattern which should be what ya got . good move leavin' the chev for someone else and getting a REAL engine !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The EAB if it has all the original EAB parts is good for about 5HP when brand new. All the parts from 48 Trucks/49 Cars to 53 States/54 Elsewhere are interchangable as log as the rotating assemblys stay brand specific.
