parking brake

so today i came up to my house and i was live on a hill and i was gonna leave it running to run inside and grab something so as usual i push down the parking brake but then a loud sound and the pedal goes to the floor, i pull into the garage cut it and leave it in gear and realize right up in the front outside a piece of the housing pulled through a hole so i undid the link in the middle of the truck and pull the piece back through and cant get the link that connects the front cable to the back 2. how can i get enough slack to reconnect it?

There is an auto adjuster that you have to release. I know when I did mine, I had to push the pedal all the way down then release it, then push down again, and it let me pull slack out of the pedal assembly. Give that a try.

I just pull really hard..it comes out. It's spring-loaded...pedal pushes on spring, spring pushes on cable, as far as i can tell, and it automatically adjusts. but with the pedal out, just pull.
