Maximum wheel width for 2WD EL?

Maximum wheel width for 2WD EL?
Found an EL that I like and it has the 17's that will be ditched for something a bit meatier. How wide can I go? I'd really like to run, say a 305-50/20. But I don't want anything sticking out.
