So my girl friend took my truck to college with her for the week. Last night around 10:30pm she called and said it would not start. I knew the batteries were getting low but they were still ok. So I picked up 2 new batteries and headed the hour trip to swap them out. I called the dealer to ask if they are still under warrenty. He said yes but could not do much for me. The only thing they can do for me is to give me a new set of batteries. But in order to do that I must reinstall them in the truck and bring it down to the garage for a day so they can charge them and test them to see if they are good or not. So i asked the service manager, your telling me I have to put them back in the truck so you can take them back out again. His answer was yes. He said the reason they could not do much is because it was during the week and I could have taken it to the dealer. Dealer, at 11pm at night. I don't think so. Sorry had to vent.
Do you still have the roadside assistance? One time I locked my keys in and sat there for hours while someone brought my extra set to me. The next day I was going through my wallet and noticed the roadside assistance card the dealer gave me...DOH!!!!!!!!
Don't get too excited about Ford Roadside Assistance. In June 2005 I bought a new F350 King Ranch PSD. The very next day, while driving down the highway, a defective heater hose burst, sprayed coolant over the entire engine compartment, windshield, etc. First I called the dealership. Nothing they could do for me. Told me to call Ford Roadside Assistance. Well, i guess that made sense, so I called. They took my information - VIN, location, problem, etc. Fourty five minutes later I get a call from the local towing company under contract to Ford. They're kinda busy but will get there as soon as they can. Five hours and three phone calls later they show up with a tow truck. My truck weighed more than theirs. Two more hours and several phone calls later they show up with a flat bed. Total time sitting on the side of the highway - eight hours.
Ford Roadside Assistance is just someone answering a phone with a nationwide list of contract towing companies. In my case they had only ONE company in the area so I was at THEIR mercy.
8 hours, now that's rediculous! I worked for several tow companies all over California, you're right, they all contract with Ford RA and they will call the one closest to you, sometimes we had to go into other contract station's areas because of how busy they were. If that was the only contracted station close to you then yeah, I could see that happening and it sucks.
