I was told that there is a tuner/programmer out there that monitors everything on your truck "without" adding extra sensors..... It is supposed to plug into the OBD port and it will monitor EGT, Trans. Boost, RPM, everything. It is supposed to have a small LCD screen where you are able to see the readouts or you can go to another part of the screen to make changes to the program for towing, fuel MPG. etc.
Dose this make any sense to you guys? I heard about it over the CB while I was rolling down the road, and didnt catch it all. It could be just Trucker Talk and not totally beliveable, but I wanted your opinions
as far as I know you have to add a sensor at least for the egts,. But everything else you can get off the obd port I think. It has been found though that where the sensors take readings for the obd port are not as accurate as where the sensors go for aftermarket gauges.
So there really is such a beast Huh? Do you have any idea who makes it?
I dont know anything about tuners and/or programmers and I want to see if there is something that I can get for a good price that will give me options

there is lots out there you will have to search a bit. I'm running bullydog outlook moniter it plugs into the obd port and moniters everything but you still have to add egt probe but that only takes 25 mins.I would realy look into each one and see what they offer because each one has different options.
Will these different tunners work with an all stock truck? I would just like to get a little better mileage with out modifying my truck to much, but I would also like to still have the power to pull my 5th wheel ('32) when I want
The tuners work best for an all stock vehicle. Once you get mods you have to get custom tunes. I have a Livewire, and used the preprogrammed tunes on it for a long time before buying custom tunes for it.
I was just checking out the SCT website, and it looks like the Livewire is what I am looking for, next question is..If I ever have to get a different truck, will it be able to go into the new truck? The way my luck has been with people not paying attention while they are driving I never know what will happen

You have to return the truck to stock before you can use it on another vehicle. Say your truck was totaled, and you can't return it to stock, you can call SCT and they can unlock it.

I'm not knocking' any body's gear, but I'm not sure the livewire "has arrived" in regard to function and format... There are a lot of old boys out there that have written that thing off due to it's sorted issues and questionable release readiness. The Quadilla Commander, and it's successor (a smaller version) have all of the monitoring via OBDII and/or wire-tap except for EGT and transmission temp. I believe that these are the same limitation and analog sensor requirements of most OBDII types.
WOW you guys make my head spin!! I can see that I will have a lot of research to do before I decide which way I go. There are sure a lot of different products out there!
Again thanks for the input
yea, the livewire is also not a "small screen" it's actually quite large. There are still some glitches with it, but so far SCT seems to have done a pretty good job with it. It's just nice to be able to custom tune and monitor your vehicle all in one.
there are plenty of OBD monitoring systems to get, but i wouldn't get anything other than SCT for a flash programmer. There are other flash programmers from SCT other than the Livewire that ppl seem to backup.
