I have transplanted a 1978 Ford D60 axle under my jeep J10 Pickup. I bought the axle from a private seller so I am not certain what type of Ford it came out of but probably a Pickup. The calipers came loose but without the brake lines. When I mounted the passenger side everything went smoothly but the drivers side is where the problem is. When I mount the caliper the banjo fitting is rubbing the steering knuckle. I reversed the bleeder screw with the banjo and it gave me a little more room but to bleed this system I need the bleeder at the top. At first I thought the PO gave me two passenger side calipers but I checked the Autozone website and it indicated the 2 piston caliper for this year is identical for both sides. Anyone have any experience with this axle?
Welcome to world of budget cutting. I haven't tried what your working with, but it's not unusual to run into this kind of issue. My best suggestion is to flip through Russel's and Aeroquip's catalogs and look for a banjo fitting that will give you more access.
right and left calipers must be differant
autozits online catalog is flawed
checked with rock auto and they show diff. parts
if your 2 calipers are the same then you have 2 rights
and no lefts
