I suspect that the previous owner had to do that a time or two, so he made the switch on my truck. If you had this problem with it last year, why didn't you replace the problematic pulse shift last August after all the biting bugs were gone? But who wants to deal with that when the fish are biting and the insects aren't, eh?
Of course, 2-1/2 ft of snow can be a bit of da white stuff to get through.

Yeah people put card board in front of the rad to get more heat, it won't hurt anything unless you block too much air and over heat it,

well, I am back, and after 725 miles, I ended up getting between 15.0-17.5 mpg. averaged just under 16. It likes the warmer weather downstate (20-40 F), Shell gas, and driving between 68-72 mph for long distances. I even goot good gas mileage for 100 miles that I was running on and off 4wd and going between 50-70 mph depending on the road conditions. I am happier to know that the mpg problem isn't permanent, lol. thanks for the suggestions.
