went to get in my 67 f100 the other day and I couldnt open the driverside door. I started working on it today and I cant figure out how to get the door open. I have tried locking and unlocking it several times, I have tried using the inside and outside handles. I have taken the inside door panel off and everything appears to be working but obviously its not. I am assuming that it is something inside the latching mechanism I cant see. I cant take the mechanism off since the door wont open.
Does anyone know how to open the door in its present state. I am wondering if there is a small lever or something I can use to release the latch and open the door.
Randy, if the mechanism is moving, push it closed as hard as you can to try to relieve any pressure there, and put the shoulder to it from the inside. I have seen them stick and you have to give it a real jolt to open it.
The 67 locks using the inside door handle. I'd guess that maybe something is not hooked up anymore? You mention everything looks okay, but I think the lock actuator is failing? It's not unlocking the latch mechanism.
It's raining ice and a bit too cold to go look at mine in the driveway, or I'd be glad to help you out if I could.
well I finally got mad at the thing and hit the door from the inside pretty hard then it opened fine. The problem is now it will stick everytime I shut the door. I would assume I need to replace the latching mechanism or do I just need to grease it or maybe adjust something?
Thanks
Randy

to see if it is working right and not just miss adjusted you can take the door with it open and close the latch and push the handle in and try to open the latch with your hand/bar what ever and see if it will open and if it does then the latch needs to be adjusted if it is still hard to open then it should be replaced/oiled or something. just my thoughts
My turn to have a go at this, Front cab mount is rusty, and in bad shape!
Place a jack with some wood under the front door sill and jack it up about
2 inches don't stress it to much, now try opening and closing your door!
P.S. do you have the bigger than normal (gap) between the front fender to
door gap?
pro stree, it is interesting that you say that. The driver side of the cab sits lower than the passenger side. I have ordered some energy suspension cab mounts that I will be instaling tomorrow to level the cab. I will see if that fixes it.
Try placing a 1X4 block between the cab and frame. That will raise the cab a little and hold it. I think I drove one around a couple of years with one in it one time. I was trying to remember what was causing the door stick on my truck, thanks to Wally for the jolt.
