no start - warm engine

My 1986 BII start when cold, however, when the engine is warm it will not start. If I put a jumper wire from the negative battery post to the relay, it starts. I have changed the relay and the starter cable.

Strange. Our relay has +in (from the bat), +out (to the starter) and controlling + (from the ignition and clutch safety, the small one in between).... Where do you apply "-" from the battery?? Don't get it.
Anyway, If starter cranks normally when cold, and cranks with a small jumper when warm the problem most likely is in the controlling wire or the switches before it.

Thanks for your response. Sorry, I am moving out of state and have not been able to check this out. I see the + which has four wires attached and the - . Is the one in between the red wire. If so, where are the switches and what are switches?

well the one big post with four (or more) wires is + from the battery. The other big post with one fat wire is also a plus, that goes to the starter. your relay is a big switch that connects both big plus posts when +12V is applied to small post in the middle... this is the main idea. to make sure your relay works OK cold and hot you can use a jumper wire from battery plus directly to small middle post of the relay. WARNING - this will crank the engine. Be sure it's on neutral. And if the relay is OK this means that on warm engine middle small post does not recieve +12. And you have to inspect this electric chain step by step. Get a wiring diagramm and a tester - without these mothers the mission is impossible )
