Engine build vs vehicle build dates
Just to pass on some info on what type of delay between the dates of engine build and actually vehicle build date. As many posts have been made because of the three valve sparkplug problem, we have learned here that the head design was changed on I believe Oct 9th 2007. I recently ordered and received my 2008 150 and wondered , and hoped, my engine was post 10/9/07. My dealer let me know during my wait that my vehicle was to be built the week of Jan 14th 2008. Today I checked the sticker on the front on my engine and found that the date the engine was built wa 12/17/07. So guess I'm in the clear as far as the spark plug problem. So, guess there is approx a 1 month span between the engine and vehicles dates. Just thought I'd pass this on.

You're still not in the clear;sure,they made a change in the spark plug hole, but they increased the hole diameter around the shield,now allowing even more carbon to build up around the shield!

FYI: There is no shield now it is a conventional plug that can even be re-gapped the head has been redesigned for this plug the only part in the combustion chamber is the firing electrode, I have this info from a ford employeee who works on these 5.4 3V engines so this worry is gone!!

BOF: I hear u on the tune ups and this is one of the few things with ford I do know for sure and as I have an 04 I am seriously considering tradeing for an 09 just so I don't have to deal with the plugs!! Have a good one.
