I get to be the young stupid guy with all the dumb questions. The truck i have shows that it is a F150 Custom. What does that tell me exactly? I don't know the difference between this or a Ranger or any of the other trucks out there from the same time period as mine. Is there any way to tell exactly what options this truck was delivered with or the original paint. Whether it had the fake wood finish in it?? Just curious on some of these things while i'm trying to slowly restore it.
BTW
Does anyone have an aftermarket A/C installed in there truck that doesn't allow the defrost piece down to the heater box to fit correctly. In my truck with this aftermarket A/C there isn't enough room for the defrost piece coming down to connect to the heater box. It barely fits over half and then i have to put tape all around it so that atlease a little will flow upward.
Thanks

You can search around here to get more info on the different trim levels. There was Custom, Ranger, Ranger XLT and for 78 & 78 Ranger Lariat. Most Customs were pretty well stripped down but as the name implies it could be custom ordered with what ever options were available at the time. Somewhere hidden in the truck you might find a build sheet that has everything listed that was ordered with the truck but as old as these trucks are gettin chances get slim that some PO already found it and lost it. Or if you had a lot of time and patience you might be able call Ford and pay for a copy of the build sheet but its probably not worth it.
I have the same the problem with the defrost duct not reaching the heater box.(with aftermarket A/C ) But the A/C isnt holding it.
I believe there was a foam rubber gasket that went there but cant find any referance to it
