300 6 carb COLD blooded

I have an '80 f150 with the 300 6 and the carter 1 bbl. this thing is a pain to start when sitting for 8+ hours. everything looks good and in good tune. The choke seems to be having trouble. my question is if these carbs always have carb trouble or what the best way of fixing this problem is. I no longer have 15 minutes a day to sit and let the trruck warm up. thanks

You need to get the choke working. Problem is, these are not that simple to fix. You have to keep messing with it, and read up on the different parts that make it all work. If yours has a elec connection, then it has an electric assist and you need to make sure that's working. Also you may have a tube going to it, and this would be a hot air assist, and you need to make sure this has not rotted off down on the exhaust manifold.

Most of the Ford chokes have a round black housing on the side of the carb, and this is where all this stuff hooks up and where you adjust the choke.

First make sure all the carburetor heat connections are in place and functional. Just about everything you need to know about your carburetor is at the location: http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us...rInfoPages.htm .
