check engine lite
Own a 98 4x4 with 4.6l.Check engine lite came on after running around 5 minutes but engine is running fine. Checked gas cap and it is tight. Have heard of the O2 sensor going bad. Is this the one in the intake air filter boot Any help would be big help

The only solution is to have the code pulled. It could be anything. Most likely an emission device. You could replace a lot of items before you actually find the device that is out of wack.

My check light came on also, with everything fine. Took it in, had it read...for 80 bucks. Mechanic could not find a thing wrong, even though it said a vacuum line from the fuel tank to the fuel injection indicated a leak. He said there was absolutely nothing wrong with it, but went ahead and reset it. He said expect to have it happen again. Most disturbing is this is a "big brother" forcing mandatory emission compliance, as you can't disable it and make it thru your State emission test..they check for the check ignition light to come on when you first start your engine. If it doesnt, you fail.
