89 F-150 trans problem

Ive got a 1989 f150 i put a 351 carb into it. The trans was all electric but i had to go with a trans that had a vent hose on it. Any ideas on making this project any easier or rule out any possable problems im going to run into. Thanks

Welcome to the site. You will find this is a great knowledge bank.

Did you replace the engine or is it a 351 that you placed a carb on? Looking at your post, I have to assume that you replaced the engine and transmission. If this is the case, then you will need the computer from the same truck to make everything work right.
Give it a little bit and others with more experience then I have will chime in.

yeah i replaced the stock 302 injected with the 351. I got the computer and all that from the old truck i parted out. I had my old stock electric trans in my truck with the 351 but it went around my house in 1st gear all the time thats when i got the idea of putting in a trans with a vent hose. First time going through a repair this big before. Any ideas will be great. Thanks for your help.

There are quite a few posts about the 302 to 351 swap on this site. Do a search on "302 to 351 swap" to educate yourself before the others chime in. Then you will know the proper questions to ask.
I have never done the swap myself but I have read many posts on it. Some even have step by step instructions.

When i put in my 351 i kinda did it on a basic know how. I got the computer pluged into the 351 but still got alot of wires that dont go to anything. Theres nothing pluged into my dash other then the heater and oil pressure. i get a check engine light. Im not sure how to check codes for this year truck.
