Well, in another 2 years I'll have around 250,000-300,000 miles on it, and it's already beat all to hell. I have to have a dependable truck, and with that amount of miles little things will start going wrong...I'll keep it to use for beating around the farm in, and use the other for everything else...
They may be weak in the half ton form, but most people use chevy one ton tie rod ends when upgrading stock steering. Just food for thought.....
This may just be me, and correct me if I'm mistaken... But I'm of the strong opinion that anything bearing the hummer badge should (but doesn't necessarily) come with some of the strongest, baddest components straight from the factory. With the reputation that hummers (used to) have, and their outrageous price, I'd say it's the least GM owes it's customers.
I have seen people have trouble with those GM tie rods on trucks with big tires and lift kits. Then again, seen a lot of Super Duty Fords with wasted plastic ball joints too.
To put in his two cents. Let us know how his truck is doing, info about the competition, etc..

In fairness you aren't really going to get the truth out of Ford man at heart either...
For the record I do believe when he traded his 03 Chevy in, he considered the 08 Ford (and in fact gave it a lot of praise when he tested it)
His purchase decision for the Chevy was his concern for the reliability of the 6.4, in comparison to his expectation of a very reliable Duramax (which I understand it has been thus far) as he experienced with his 03.
