acceloration lacks power
02 explorer 4x4 it drives fine through town when i go up a steep ramp or hill there is no power it almost crawls.i hade a p1400 code.i fixed that cleared code it never came back.could it be the fuel filter?or the pcv?

When was the last time you had a tune up? I would suspect that a tune up is in order. Use OEM spark plugs and wires, clean the MAF sensor, make sure your air filter is new. Replace the fuel filter, that should be it.

The way it sounds, it almost seems like the transmission isn't downshifting. I'm not entirely sure what the '02 had in the way of throttle posistion sensors, but you might want to see if the tranny is giving out any trouble codes.
