4cyl to v6

I have a 1990 ford ranger 4cyl. 5 speed tran. would a v6 from another ranger fit into this. If so would the trans. also fit.

Absolutely. For good measure , you should buy the entire donor vehicle, that way you can get whatever you need from it.

And do not forget to buy bellhousing for relevant V6 engine. 3.0 has unique bolt pattern, 4.0, 2.9 and 2.8 have one for all the Cologne engines bolt pattern....

I've done this swap on an '88 super cab before...unfortunately. We did 2.3 to 2.9. When we couldn't find the wiring for that, we went to the 2.8(welcome to Tennessee...). We also had to find an auto tranny and the bellhousings to go with both (the guy we did the swap for only had one arm...). The moral of the story is make sure you have the correct wiring and at least a decent manual to help you with the wiring. With those you should have no problems at all.
