2002 F 350 186.000 miles.I replaced my cps about 3 weeks ago thought problem was fixed.Well on my way home from the race track the truck died at 60mph just quit. The last time this happened I was able to restart the truck and drive home thats why I replaced the sensor to start with.Well this time the truck will turn over like a champ but will not start is it common for these little sensors to go out within 3 weeks or what else may the problem be.PLEASE HELP
do you gae WTS light when you turn the key on?
if not you have bad Fuel Heater Bowl Fuse, unplug the heater bowl before you replace fuse, it will be 30A fuse IIRC, its #30 on 2001 and lower trucks, 2002 i think its #119
Wait to start, the light that comes on when you turn the key on and wait till it goes out so you can start the truck... its for glow plugs.
and fuel bowl its on the top of the motor under the powerstroke plastic cover. it has round cover, if you look on the back of it it has yellow handle, next to it you should see a plug. thats the plug for fuel heating bowl
let me know if you need more info...
O.K Im a dumb @#$.I bought a new cps and went to put it on the truck. Well when I got under the truck and looked very close at the new one I just put in I noticed that the wire harness had just came off.Plugged it back in started the truck and went to get my money back from the parts store. There is a GOD.Thanks for your help anyway guys.
Glad to hear it was that simple. Did you get the replacement CPS from Ford? If so, you might consider just throwing it in the glove box to keep as a spare. These new ones haven't been out long enough for us to know if they will fail as often as the older parts. The part should have cost you under $30, so think of it as cheap insurance.
Also double check to make sure the plug is snapped in place and the little plastic ear hasn't snapped off. You don't want this to happen again.
