5 flat question.

Hey everyone, yesterday I went with my dad to the St. Paul Boat Show. I noticed that some of the trailers have 5 flat wiring. I know that 4 flat has your standard white, brown, green and yellow. A yahoo search says it's an auxillary. What is it really used for? That's saying you have the heavy duty tow package from the factory with the 7 pin round plug on the back. I'm puzzled by it and so is my dad who has towed trailers for many years.

the extra wire is for the reverse lights. when you put it in reverse it will turn off the surge brakes that boats use so you can back up. otherwise when you go to back up it will put the brakes on the trailer.

Ahh ok that's what i kind of figured. Something to do with reverse. Kind of wish our trailer has it but it doesn't as it's a 1989.
