Transmission Swap C6 TO AOD
#16
the major problem wit hthe AOD's (any auto tranny for that matter) is heat kills them. AOD's just seem to die more easily than others.
If you aren't putting much power to it, and are good with maintenance (fresh fluid and filters) then an AOD may work for you. I would run a BIG tranny cooler though and a tranny temp gauge as well.

c4's are find behind 302's. The have less rotating mass to deal with than the larger c6. The 302 doesn't have the torque of the 351w or others, so c4's hold up ok.
Granted everythin is relative and it's hard for one person's experience with a tranny to relate to another.
I had a recently built AOD die in 2 months (less then 5k miles) behind a 3.8L in my ranger. But then again my ranger isn't a normal ranger and I'm sure not everyone out there drives like I do

good idea.
$1000 or so saved will buy ya a lot of gas. Accept the fact that it's a truck.
Besides a truck is not a candidate for hypermileing.(spelling?) That said, by doing what they suggest, I can get my 85 f150 to consistently get 18 mpg.....I'm not complaining.
